Welcome to 2nd grade. My name is Crystal Wyatt and I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this school year. I knew I wanted to be a teacher immediately when I started teaching recreational gymnastics in high school. From there I obtained a Bachelor’s in Middle Grades Education with a concentration in Social Studies, as well as a Master’s Degree in Reading and Literacy for Early Childhood Education. This will be my seventh year teaching and first year teaching at Hazelwood Elementary.

LUNCH/MONEY- In order for me to accept ANY money it will have to be in an envelope with your child’s name, my name, and what the money is for. I will not accept any “loose” money. I will send it back home with your child.  Lunch money will need to be in an envelope with your child’s name and lunch number on it.

BIRTHDAYS-You may send in special treats for the class on your child’s birthday!  Birthdays will ONLY be celebrated during lunch.  If your child wants to invite their friends to a party they must invite EVERYONE in the class, or all boys or all girls.  If you want to bring in treats please contact me so I can plan accordingly because some students may have allergies.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION-School hours are 7:50-3:15.  Car rider dismissal will begin at 3:00.  If we have a half day the hours will be 7:50-11:45. Lunch is 12:05-12:35. We will be having a snack in the mornings.  You may send in a snack with your child daily.  Foods that are great for snack time are things that are individually wrapped. (chips, goldfish, fruit snacks, pretzels, and many others) Candy will not be allowed for a snack.

VOLUNTEER-If you are wanting to volunteer you HAVE to go through the schools training.  This also includes going on or meeting up with us on field trips.  Please see the front office for information on the volunteer training.

SPECIALS-Students will have music, art, school counselor, library or P.E each day. The daily special will be listed on the newsletter. Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes on P.E Days!

HOMEWORK-I will send home the homework for the week on Mondays.  I will expect homework to be turned in on Friday mornings.  I will not accept late work unless your child is absent on Friday.  Please check homework folders daily.  Homework folders will also hold your child’s daily behavior report.

FOLDERS-Your child will bring a folder home every day.  There will be a behavior calendar in the folder.  Please do not remove it, and please initial it every night. I will have a key identifying their behavior.   If you have anything that you need to send in please do so by using this folder.  This can include lunch money and notes to me.  Your child will also have a newsletter in their folder every Monday.

TRANSPORTATION-I must know how your child gets home every day!! Your child may only ride one bus. Car rider tag forms can be picked up in the office.
