Hello STARS! My name is Ashley Ailerson and I am so excited to be working with our fourth grade students here at Hazelwood Elementary School! The 2022-2023 school year will be my 7th year as an educator. I have taught kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and now 4th grade. I believe in hard work and dedication but most of all...having FUN while we learn! I am originally from North Carolina where I earned my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from UNCG & my Masters Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Appalachian State University. My husband & I moved here in 2020 & I am proud to call Tennessee my home. We have two golden retrievers named Tink & Boone. In my free time I enjoy hiking, fishing, running, & reading. I am currently working on my Doctorate from Carson-Newman University so most of my free time is spent reading and writing! It is going to be a fantastic year and I cannot wait to work with all of you! Shine on!

Supply List for this class: While CMCSS provides a generic supply list for all 3-5 students, this is what we will need for my 4th grade class specifically.

  • 4 Spiral Notebooks (these work better for us than the composition notebooks because students are able to fold them back and save space on their desks)
  • 4 Folders w/ Pockets & Prongs (color and design do not matter, but they should have pockets and prongs to hold papers)
  • Pencil Pouch (Fabric please! The hard plastic pencil boxes tend to fall off or out of desks, explode and break everywhere.)
  • Pencils  (Many, Many Pencils- could be pre-sharpened, or un-sharpened. Please no Mechanical Pencils as they break easily, get lost or stolen, or students run out of lead)
  • Highlighters (color and size don’t matter)
  • Coloring Pencils (Best for their workbooks- could do crayons, but no markers please)
  • Scissors
  • 6 Glue Sticks (we use these a LOT for our notebooks)
  • Dry erase Markers (Color and size don’t matter- Red does stain)
  • Loose Leaf Paper (2 packs)
  • Personal Pencil Sharpener (the small handheld ones should work just fine- just please make sure they have a catch for the shavings)
  • Headphones
  • Tissues
  • Disinfectant Wipes (used to keep student’s desks sanitized)
  • Reusable Water Bottle

Hazelwood Stars...never give up, encourage others, and always do their BEST!

When you walk into our classroom, my hope is that you will feel welcomed and that you'll have FUN learning alongside your classmates and teachers.

My motto: Be kind, work hard, and know that you are loved <3

Welcome to 4th grade!
